The New York City police humorously put the famous movie character Grinch on a wanted list on the eve of the New Year holiday. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Grinch is a character known for "stealing" Christmas, and the police promised a reward of 10,000 US dollars for information that would help "capture" him. This announcement was distributed through the police's official social media pages.
According to police representatives, this message is not related to any real criminal case. This initiative was mainly carried out to share holiday spirit and strengthen communication with the public.
In the humorous announcement, it is said that Grinch "stole" the gifts placed under children's Christmas trees on the night of December 24. The character's green appearance, furry outfit, and "suspicious behavior" are also depicted with a high level of humor.
The New York police have previously gained attention with creative and humorous actions on the eve of holidays. For example, in previous years, Santa Claus was urged to follow traffic rules, or New Year's elves were "warned" not to disturb public order.
The character of Grinch was created by American writer Dr. Seuss and became known through the book "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," first published in 1957.
Later, in 1966, an animated film based on this work was made, and in 2000, a feature film starring actor Jim Carrey in the lead role was produced. Although Grinch is portrayed as a character who dislikes Christmas at the beginning of the story, by the end, he understands compassion and the true essence of the holiday.
This humorous initiative by the New York police serves to boost holiday spirit and share warm smiles with the public.
