Russian strikes in Kyiv caused the deaths of two civilians
In January 2026, Ukrainian officials reported that two civilians were killed as a result of air strikes carried out by Russia on Kyiv and its surrounding areas. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This incident was recorded as the first civilian casualties in Kyiv due to Russian strikes in 2026. According to the Ukrainian Emergency Service, the strikes caused a fire at a hospital located in the Obolonsky district in the northern part of Kyiv.

After the fire was extinguished, the body of one person was found inside the hospital. Additionally, a woman was injured, and 25 civilians were evacuated.

Russian attacks also reached other areas in the Kyiv region. Some houses and critical infrastructure were damaged.

Another civilian death was reported in the Fastiv district. Furthermore, some areas were left without electricity supply.

Over the past four years, Russia has regularly targeted Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities using missiles and drones. Moscow describes its strikes as aimed at military targets, but Ukrainian officials often emphasize that civilians and civilian infrastructure are also being affected.
