Venezuela to supply 50 million barrels of oil to the US
The transitional government in Venezuela has announced plans to supply 30–50 million barrels of high-quality oil to the United States. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This was announced by former US President Donald Trump on January 7 on the Truth Social platform. Interestingly, this statement appeared just a few days after the US conducted a military operation aimed at capturing Venezuela's leader, Nicolas Maduro.

According to Trump, this oil will be sold at market prices, and the proceeds will serve the interests of both the Venezuelan people and the United States. In this regard, Trump has instructed US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright to promptly implement the plan.

According to the plan, the oil will be transported from Venezuela to US ports by ships. In recent months, the US administration has accused Venezuela of supporting drug trafficking, portraying it as a threat to national security.

The Venezuelan government, however, has accused the US of attempting to seize its natural resources. It is known that Venezuela is one of the countries with the largest oil reserves in the world.

Until 2005, the country was one of the main oil suppliers to the US, but in 2007, then-President Hugo Chavez nationalized the industry and confiscated the properties of foreign companies, including US companies. After the operation conducted on January 3 involving US military forces in Venezuela, Trump stated that US companies are ready to invest billions of dollars in Venezuela to restore the damaged infrastructure.

At the same time, Venezuela's interim president, Delcy Rodriguez, addressed the nation via television, rejecting claims that the country is being governed from abroad following Nicolas Maduro's capture. She emphasized that Venezuela is governed only by its own government.

Rodriguez also announced a seven-day mourning period in memory of the victims of the US military operation. According to the Venezuelan government, 24 Venezuelan soldiers were killed during the operation.

The Cuban government reported the deaths of 32 Cubans who worked in security services. The main question today is: will this oil agreement serve the welfare of the Venezuelan people, or will it intensify geopolitical conflicts?
