Afghanistan trade remained stable with alternative routes

In 2025, Afghanistan's foreign trade remained stable through alternative routes established via Iran and Central Asia, despite difficulties on the Pakistan route. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This was reported by the "Reuters" agency. As relations with Pakistan deteriorated, Afghan export and import companies redirected shipments to other routes.
The main transit points chosen were Iran's Chabahar port and overland routes passing through Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan. According to "Reuters," Afghanistan's total foreign trade turnover in 2025 amounted to approximately 13.9 billion US dollars.
Of this, exports accounted for 1.8 billion dollars, while imports made up 12.1 billion dollars. The main markets for Afghan products remain India, Pakistan, and Central Asian countries.
The export composition is led by dried fruits, coal, carpets, saffron, and agricultural products. Imports primarily consist of fuel, equipment, food products, and industrial materials.
These products are mainly imported from Iran, the United Arab Emirates, China, and neighboring countries.
