Russia drone attack: Casualties and damage in Kyiv

On the night of January 9, transitioning into Friday, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched a large-scale drone attack on the city of Kyiv. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to current information, at least four people have died and 19 have been injured. According to Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko, among the deceased is also a paramedic.
He was responding to a call in the Darnytskyi district and died as a result of a drone striking a multi-story building. The consequences of the attack were also recorded in other parts of the city.
In particular, in the Dniprovskiy district, a drone strike damaged a multi-story building, a fire broke out in a shopping center in the Desnyanskyi district, and a 24-story residential building was damaged in the Pecherskyi district.
Klitschko emphasized that due to damage to critical infrastructure facilities, there have been disruptions in electricity and water supply in Kyiv. The attack was not limited to Kyiv alone; it is also reported that important infrastructure facilities were damaged in the Lviv region.
Monitoring services reported unusual activity around Russia’s “Kapustin Yar” testing ground prior to the attack. The Ukrainian Air Force noted that a missile launched towards Lviv was traveling at a speed of 13,000 kilometers per hour.
However, the type of missile will only be determined after a full examination of the debris. As a result of this attack, serious damage occurred in Kyiv and other regions.
Casualties, fires, and disruptions in infrastructure are negatively affecting the daily lives of the population. The current focus is on accelerating rescue operations, assessing the extent of the damage, and ensuring security.
