Germans express dissatisfaction with US policy

The US military intervention in South America has sparked sharp dissatisfaction and concern among the German public. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the recent "Deutschlandtrend" social survey results, trust in the US among Germans has dropped to a record low. Research shows that 72 percent of Germans consider the military attack on Venezuela unjustified.
Furthermore, 82 percent of the population are worried that in international politics, the interests of powerful states are prevailing over the principles of law. Half of the Germans demand that the German government openly criticize US policy, even if this leads to a deterioration in relations with the Donald Trump administration.
Currently, only 15 percent of Germans consider the US a reliable ally. This is the lowest figure in the history of these surveys.
For comparison, 78 percent of respondents trust France, and 74 percent trust the United Kingdom. Trust in Ukraine stands at 40 percent, while trust in Russia is only 9 percent.
According to the survey results, the majority of Germans support the idea of reducing dependence on NATO and establishing an independent European military alliance. This opinion is especially popular among Germans who view US security guarantees with skepticism.
In addition, instability in international politics is also affecting Germany's domestic politics. Only 20 percent of the population are satisfied with the government's performance in the country.
According to the survey results, if elections were held in the near future, the Christian Democratic Union and Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) bloc could receive 28 percent of the vote, while the opposition "Alternative for Germany" (AfD) party could get 25 percent. Economic decline and migration issues remain the most pressing problems in German society.
The majority view the future of the ruling coalition with great skepticism. From this perspective, the issue of whether Germany will maintain its position within NATO or form an independent security system is being actively discussed in public.
