Deepfakes and fake subscribers banned in Kazakhstan

The Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan has issued a fatwa prohibiting the use of deepfake technology and the artificial increase of follower counts on social networks. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This decision was approved by the Council of Scholars and officially announced. The fatwa states that spreading false information using deepfake technology is considered deception and contradicts the norms of Islamic law.
Additionally, Muslims are strictly forbidden from artificially increasing the number of followers through fake or bot accounts and paying for such services. The religious administration emphasized that such actions cause confusion in society and harm the principles of honesty established in the Qur'an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Fatwas are advisory in nature and serve as guidelines for Muslims and their communities. Detailed information about these decisions has been published on the official website of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan.
Deepfake technology refers to images and videos created with the help of artificial intelligence that appear real.
