Proposal to purchase Greenland submitted to the US Congress

Republican Congressman Randy Fine has introduced a bill to the US Congress to incorporate Greenland into the United States and grant it statehood. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In his statement, he emphasized that this initiative aims to bring the possibilities of annexing or purchasing Greenland into the legal discussion arena. According to Fine, the geopolitical situation in the Arctic is becoming increasingly tense.
Russia and China expanding their activities in the region are exerting serious pressure on Washington's security and strategic interests. The congressman believes that owning Greenland would provide the opportunity to control Arctic sea routes.
Additionally, systems important for US security are also connected to this territory. Fine stressed that the US must not leave such a strategic area to regimes that pose security threats.
In his opinion, the bill serves precisely to reduce these threats. If this law is passed, the US president will have the authority to take necessary measures to annex or purchase Greenland.
Moreover, the president will be required to report to Congress on this process. Greenland's total area is 2,166,000 square kilometers.
If it becomes the 51st state of the US, it will be the largest state in the country, even larger than the current largest state, Alaska. Alaska's area is 1,723,000 square kilometers.
It should be recalled that Greenland is part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Until 1953, it was a Danish colony.
In 2009, it gained broader autonomy status, acquiring the right to independently manage its internal affairs.
