Nearly two thousand people died in the protests in Iran
According to Iranian officials, nearly two thousand people have died during the protests that took place in the country over the past two weeks. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

This information was provided to Reuters by an unnamed official. It is emphasized that among those killed during the protests are both demonstrators and security personnel.

At the same time, opposition groups outside Iran claim that the number of victims is even higher. Iranian officials state that "terrorist groups" are behind the protests and that their actions are being directed by foreign powers.

The country's leadership accuses the United States and Israel of escalating the unrest. It is said that these protests have arisen due to the severe economic situation.

According to analysts, Iran has experienced several large protests in recent years, but this time the events are unfolding against the backdrop of economic and political weakness in the country. Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump announced the imposition of a 25 percent tariff on countries trading with Iran.

Tehran has not responded to this statement, but China has criticized it. The main buyers of Iranian oil are China, Turkey, Iraq, the UAE, and India.

Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz spoke about the possibility of the Iranian government's overthrow, emphasizing that the country's leadership's days are numbered. However, Iran's foreign minister rejected these views, accusing Germany of hypocrisy.

Although the protests continue, no serious divisions have been observed within Iran's security forces. Officials have recognized the economic grievances as legitimate but continue to strengthen security measures.

At the same time, reliable information has become difficult to obtain due to internet restrictions in the country. According to UN data, telephone communication has been restored, but the internet remains unstable.
