New app created in China for the safety of singles

A new mobile app recently launched in China is attracting a lot of attention. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The app is called “Si Le Me?” in Chinese, which means “Are you dead?” and is primarily aimed at ensuring the safety of people living alone. The app’s operation is very simple: the user presses a green button every two days to confirm that they are healthy and alive.
If this action is not performed within the specified time, the app sends a message to a designated person for emergencies and alerts them about potential problems. Although the app was initially launched in May last year, it has become especially popular in recent weeks and has become one of the most downloaded paid apps.
According to the Global Times, by 2030, more than 200 million people in China may be living alone. The main users of the app are office workers living far from their families, students, or individuals who have consciously chosen a solitary lifestyle.
Nevertheless, the app’s name has faced criticism. Some emphasize that the phrase “Are you dead?” may evoke negative feelings.
Moonscape Technologies, the company that developed the app, announced that it is considering changing the name in response to these criticisms. On the international market, the app is presented under the name “Demumu” and has become one of the most popular paid apps in some countries.
The minimum price of the app is set at 8 yuan (approximately 1.15 dollars).
