Yuliya Tymoshenko was fined 33.3 million hryvnias as bail

The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has set a large bail amount as a precautionary measure against Yuliya Tymoshenko, leader of the "Batkivshchyna" faction, and imposed an obligation not to leave the country. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
During the court hearing held on January 16, Tymoshenko was required to pay bail of 33.3 million hryvnias (approximately 661 thousand euros). Additionally, she was ordered to surrender her foreign travel passports and refrain from communicating with more than 60 deputies.
The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) accuse Tymoshenko of attempting to buy members of the "Servant of the People" faction. According to investigation materials, a deputy known by the pseudonym "Mazur," Igor Kopitin, contacted law enforcement agencies in December 2025, providing information about plans to bribe certain deputies.
Audio recordings indicate that Tymoshenko offered deputies $5,000 per month in exchange for voting "correctly" on certain bills or personnel matters. During the investigation, cash and lists reflecting deputies’ voting processes were found in the party office.
Yuliya Tymoshenko firmly denied the charges against her in court. She called the audio recordings presented by NABU "fabricated" and emphasized that such conversations never took place.
Although Tymoshenko confirmed meeting with Igor Kopitin, she stated that the dialogue was solely within the framework of political cooperation. She described the cases against her as political persecution and called it an obstacle in the path of defending Ukraine’s independence.
Tymoshenko’s lawyer, Dmitry Titarenko, called on investigators to provide the full recording of the conversation and for Igor Kopitin to testify openly in court. The lawyer also expressed concern about the inclusion of a 2011 "gas case" verdict, which was annulled, in this case.
Judge Vitaliy Dubas found the bail of 33.3 million hryvnias sufficient instead of the 50 million hryvnias demanded by the prosecution. Currently, Tymoshenko is not allowed to leave the Kyiv region without permission from the investigators.
She emphasized that she does not intend to flee the country and will continue to fight to save Ukraine. The future of her political career depends on whether she can overcome this situation.
Do you think this controversy will put an end to Tymoshenko’s political career, or will she be able to restore her position?
