Kurdish language granted official language status in Syria

Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara’a signed an important decree aimed at protecting the rights and interests of the Kurdish people. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Based on this decree, Kurds were recognized as an integral part of Syrian society, and for the first time in history, the Kurdish language was granted official status. According to the international AFP agency, the decree stipulates that the Kurdish language will be taught in educational institutions in regions where Kurds constitute a significant portion of the population.
Furthermore, Kurds who were deprived of citizenship during the 1962 census process were given the opportunity to restore their citizenship. This decision addressed one of the long-standing unresolved issues.
Additionally, the Navruz holiday, celebrated on March 21, was officially recognized as a national holiday. This decision is regarded as an important step towards respecting the cultural heritage and national values of the Kurdish people.
In his televised address, President Ahmad al-Shara’a called on the Kurdish people to actively participate in the country's development and future building. He emphasized, “I urge our Kurdish brothers to actively participate in the development of this nation.”
