Trump raised tariffs to buy Greenland

US President Donald Trump announced that he would increase tariffs against European countries with the aim of purchasing Greenland. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He announced this decision on the Truth Social platform, emphasizing that tariffs would continue to rise until the US acquires Greenland. Greenland is a large Arctic island belonging to Denmark.
According to Trump, starting from February 1, an additional 10% tariff will be imposed on goods imported from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Finland, and Britain. Furthermore, these tariffs are planned to increase to 25% starting from June 1.
Trump considers Greenland a strategic area for US security. This statement caused protests in European countries and Greenland.
Participants in demonstrations held in Denmark and Greenland stated that the US demands are unfair and emphasized that Greenland should decide its own fate. European countries also supported Denmark, stating that the US action could negatively affect cooperation within NATO.
Currently, Denmark has deployed additional military forces to the island to ensure security in Greenland. Negotiations are ongoing, and new decisions regarding tariffs are expected to be made.
