The number of migrants in the US has reached a record high

The situation regarding migration policy in the USA is intensifying once again. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to CBS television channel, as of January 15, the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is holding 73,000 migrants nationwide who could potentially be deported. This figure is recorded as the highest in ICE's history.
ICE reports that for the first time in its 23 years of operation, the number of detainees has exceeded 70,000. The majority of migrants are adults, numbering 67,000.
The remaining 6,000 are families detained together with their minor children. The most attention-grabbing issue is the proportion of individuals among the detainees who are linked to criminal cases.
According to CBS data, nearly 34,000 migrants have been accused of crimes or have prior convictions. The ICE system is facing serious pressures in legal processes, infrastructure, financial resources, and security due to holding such a large number of migrants.
This raises many questions regarding the organization's capabilities and effectiveness. Additionally, there are various debates concerning deportation statistics.
Official data indicates that over 2.5 million migrants were removed from the country last year. However, independent analysts emphasize that the figures mix "deportations" and "voluntary departures."
In conclusion, migration remains one of the most pressing topics on the US political agenda. This trend is expected to continue in 2026.
