Energy crisis in Ukraine: import accelerated

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has ordered to accelerate the process of importing electricity and necessary equipment due to the ongoing energy crisis in the country. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Ukraine's energy system has been severely damaged as a result of attacks carried out by Russia, resulting in electricity supply covering only 60 percent of the demand. Cold weather is further complicating the situation.
President Zelensky emphasized that decisions made to increase imports should not be delayed. The Ministry of Energy announced that planned power outages are being implemented in several regions.
The most severe situation is observed in the capital Kyiv and its surroundings. In Kyiv, residents have to live for extended periods without electricity and heating systems.
The head of government stated that he discussed additional gas imports with the Naftogaz company, but no specific information was provided about the volume of imports. Last year, Naftogaz imported 5.7 billion cubic meters of gas.
Ukraine has been importing gas from abroad since spring 2025 because Russian drones and missiles have frequently attacked gas facilities. According to Naftogaz, Russia carried out six attacks on gas facilities this week.
Problems related to energy supply remain urgent in the country.
