More than 5,000 people died in the Iran protests

According to official data, at least 5,000 people have died during the protests that began at the end of December in various regions of Iran. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Officials blame "terrorists and armed unrest" for these events. Among the victims, approximately 500 are security personnel.
The protests initially started due to economic difficulties but later expanded to include demands against the clerical rule of the government. These events are recorded as one of the bloodiest unrests since the Islamic Revolution of 1979.
Iranian courts have accused some protesters of waging war against religion and the state, indicating that they may face the death penalty. At the same time, former U.S. President Donald Trump had announced readiness to intervene if protesters were executed.
Currently, clashes and a higher number of casualties are reported in some regions, particularly in Kurdish areas. Due to internet outages and restrictions on information dissemination, it is difficult to obtain accurate information about the events.
International organizations are monitoring the situation and paying attention to human rights issues.
