Global inequality: Billionaires' wealth is rapidly increasing
Leading economic and political figures around the world are meeting in Davos from January 19 to 23 within the framework of the World Economic Forum, while the Oxfam organization emphasized in its new report that global inequality has deepened further. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

According to the report, by 2025, the wealth of the world's billionaires will increase by 16 percent, reaching 18.3 trillion US dollars. This has made the issue of wealth inequality even more urgent.

Data shows that in 2025, billionaires' wealth increased by 2.5 trillion dollars. This figure is almost equal to the total wealth belonging to the poorest 4.1 billion people in the world.

At the same time, it is noted that nearly half of the world's population continues to live in poverty. The Oxfam organization paid special attention to the connection between wealth and political influence.

The report states that billionaires are 4000 times more likely to hold political positions compared to ordinary citizens. This indicates that the influence of wealth in decision-making processes is increasingly strengthening.

Several factors contributed to the growth of wealth in 2025, including changes in tax and economic policies in the US and the rise in the value of assets in the field of artificial intelligence. In European countries, especially Germany, the number of billionaires and their wealth have also increased significantly.

Germany ranks fourth in the world in terms of the number of billionaires, with their number increasing by one third to reach 172 in 2025. The Oxfam organization emphasizes the need to implement stricter tax policies on wealth, develop national plans to reduce inequality, and limit the political influence of large wealth holders in order to reduce global inequality.

Because if inequality persists for a long time, it can negatively affect not only economic but also social and political stability. Therefore, the main question in the future will be: who benefits from economic growth and to what extent?
