Reading prison will be transformed into a creative hub

The former prison in Reading, England, has been purchased by the Ziran Educational Foundation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
This building is historically known as the place where the famous writer Oscar Wilde served his sentence between 1895 and 1897. Currently, it is planned to transform this building into a safe space for creatives.
Representatives of the foundation aim to establish an art center and a small hotel here. This project is intended to be a supportive space for creatives, especially artists who face persecution and pressure.
In the near future, the foundation will present a detailed plan for the reconstruction project. During the renovation process, the old prison cells are planned to be converted into exhibition halls and creative studios.
At the same time, the building's architecture will preserve its historical Victorian-era appearance while being harmonized with modern art elements. It is worth noting that Oscar Wilde’s life in this prison inspired his famous work "The Ballad of Reading Gaol."
This project aims to give new life to the prison’s heavy history by transforming it into a new art space.
