Uzbekistan Tourism: 11.7 Million Visitors in 2025

Global tourism has surged again in recent years. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
In 2024, revenue from international tourism reached 1.74 trillion dollars. This figure is 14 percent higher compared to the pre-pandemic period of 2019.
The United States maintained its leadership in the tourism sector — the country earned 215 billion dollars from international tourists. European countries also remain stable in the tourism rankings.
Spain earned 106.5 billion dollars, the United Kingdom 82.5 billion dollars, France 77 billion dollars, and Italy 58.7 billion dollars, securing top positions. These countries continue to attract tourists with their rich cultural heritage, developed infrastructure, and diverse tourism services.
Asian countries are also achieving high results in tourism revenue. Japan earned 54.7 billion dollars, Thailand 42.7 billion dollars, and China 39.7 billion dollars.
Here, the main factor remains not the number of tourists but their spending amount. For example, while the average expenditure per tourist is high in the United States, in countries like the Maldives and Jamaica, tourism constitutes a large share of the gross domestic product.
The success of European countries in tourism is no coincidence. Rich historical heritage, developed transport networks, and unique tourism services consistently make this region attractive to tourists.
Spain became the most visited country in the European Union in 2024. The diversity of tourism in this country — from beaches to ancient monuments — allows it to attract tourists throughout the year.
Uzbekistan is also demonstrating rapid progress in tourism development. In 2025, more than 11.7 million foreign tourists visited the country.
This is a significantly higher figure compared to 2024. From January to November, 10.7 million tourists were recorded.
The majority of visitors were citizens of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Russia. Uzbekistan was recognized as one of the fastest-growing countries in the world in terms of tourist flow in 2025.
The main factors driving tourism development are the expansion of visa-free regimes, increased international flights, new tourist routes, and improved quality of services. Within the framework of the Uzbekistan–2030 strategy, the goal is to attract 15 million tourists and achieve 5 billion dollars in tourism service exports.
This is an important step towards conquering new milestones for the country's tourism. Uzbekistan's current pace shows that the right path has been chosen and it is necessary to continue it consistently.
