Greenland Issue: Tensions Rise Between the EU and the US

Relations between the European Union and the United States have entered a new phase of tension during the World Economic Forum in Davos. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen responded firmly to US President Donald Trump's statements regarding the island of Greenland, emphasizing that Brussels' position will remain uncompromising. She also specifically stressed that Denmark's territorial integrity is not up for discussion.
The head of the European Commission stated that the security of the Arctic region is a priority for the European Union. At the same time, she opposed the unilateral actions of the US, noting that Europe needs to develop its own security strategy and become militarily independent.
Europe plans to expand its capabilities to supply icebreakers and specialized equipment in the Arctic. It was emphasized that maintaining peace in the Arctic can only be achieved through international cooperation.
Donald Trump, on the other hand, views Greenland's transfer under US control as a matter of national security. He claimed that Denmark is not capable of defending this territory and intends to apply economic pressure on European countries opposing the Greenland issue.
Trump announced plans to increase tariffs by 10 percent starting February 1, and up to 25 percent from June. Ursula von der Leyen described this approach as a "big mistake" that damages relations among allies.
Due to the seriousness of the situation, an extraordinary meeting of European Union leaders is scheduled to take place in Brussels on January 22. According to European Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis, if the US imposes tariffs, Europe may also introduce restrictions on American goods.
From now on, Europe is ready to take tough measures not only to protect its territorial but also its economic interests. This dispute over Greenland is testing the long-standing alliance between Europe and the United States.
In your opinion, will the European Union withstand the US economic pressures, or will it be forced to yield on the Greenland issue?
