Trump proposed buying Greenland

According to The Daily Mail, former US President Donald Trump considered the possibility of buying Greenland. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the report, if the people of Greenland approve the island's accession to the US through a referendum, a proposal was made to pay each citizen 1 million dollars. Considering that approximately 57 thousand people live in Greenland, this initiative could cost the US about 57 billion dollars.
Sources indicate that this plan is being viewed as an alternative way to strengthen the US military presence in the Arctic. In other words, the issue is not limited to economic interests but also has strategic significance.
However, the Danish government has clearly stated its position on this matter. Copenhagen firmly rejects the possibility of selling Greenland or transferring it to another country.
Furthermore, any decision regarding the status of the island requires Denmark's consent. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen expressed a clear opinion on this, stating, “This will not happen.
The US does not own Greenland. This is a red line for us,” he emphasized.
Greenland is one of the important regions in the Arctic, and due to its strategic significance, such proposals have sparked international political debates.
