President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the leadership of BlackRock, one of the world's largest investment companies, within the framework of the World Economic Forum held in Davos. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The meeting was attended by Adebayo Ogunlesi, a member of the company's board of directors and senior managing director. The discussions focused on expanding BlackRock's participation in Uzbekistan's economy, including investing in the capital of large Uzbek enterprises and launching joint investment projects.
BlackRock is a leader in the global asset management market. Its investments cover various sectors of the world economy.
During this meeting, an initiative was also proposed to utilize the company's international experience to improve the investment climate in Uzbekistan. The interest of such a major investor could be an important signal to global investors about the openness and reliability of the Uzbek market.
This year's Davos forum covers many important topics as well. Within the forum, BlackRock CEO Larry Fink proposed changing the venue of the World Economic Forum.
According to him, rapidly developing regions, such as cities like Jakarta, Buenos Aires, or Detroit, could be considered as alternative options instead of the traditional Davos. According to information, the World Economic Forum was established in 1971 and has been relocated only once – in 2002 to New York.
More than 60 heads of state and over 800 senior representatives of major companies are participating in this year's forum. The initial main topic on the agenda was expected to be the crisis in Ukraine, but during the discussions, issues related to Greenland also came into focus.
