Trump representatives met with Putin at the Kremlin

Representatives of former US President Donald Trump visited the Kremlin on January 22 and held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The meeting took place behind closed doors, during which issues related to stopping the war against Ukraine were discussed. On the US side, Trump's son-in-law and former advisor Jared Kushner, special envoy Steve Witkoff, and the White House's new representative Josh Gruenbaum participated.
Jared Kushner previously held a high position in the Trump administration but currently holds no official status. Nevertheless, he continues to be involved in Trump's political and diplomatic initiatives.
Josh Gruenbaum is the Commissioner of the US Federal Acquisition Service and participated in the negotiations for the first time as a senior advisor to the recently established "Peace Council" by Trump. According to the Kremlin, the meeting lasted 3.5 hours.
On the Russian side, the meeting was attended by Vladimir Putin, his aide Yuri Ushakov, and Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund. Following the negotiations, Yuri Ushakov is expected to hold a briefing for the media.
Prior to this meeting, similar negotiations took place between Witkoff and Putin in December 2025. That dialogue lasted five hours but reportedly did not yield significant results.
Additionally, during the meeting, issues concerning Russia's frozen assets in the US and Russia's inclusion in the "Peace Council" were also discussed. Putin proposed directing part of these assets to the "Peace Council" and using the remainder to restore regions damaged by the war.
However, no specific information was provided regarding which regions the funds would be allocated to. On January 23, new negotiations aimed at achieving peace in Ukraine are expected to be held in Abu Dhabi.
Representatives from Moscow and Kyiv are planned to participate directly in this meeting, with the US acting as a mediator.
