McGregor called Pavel Durov a "real fighter"

Irish UFC star Conor McGregor shared his impressive and sharp opinions about Telegram founder Pavel Durov. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He emphasized that at a time when governments around the world are trying to restrict freedom, the activities of individuals like Durov deserve great respect. McGregor called Durov a “real fighter,” stressing that his work is not just an ordinary business project but a struggle for human rights, privacy, and freedom of speech.
According to McGregor, Pavel Durov was forced to leave Russia because he refused to sell users' personal data or provide it to governments. After that, he created the Telegram platform based on the principle of privacy and turned it into one of the largest messengers in the world.
The UFC star specifically highlighted that Durov openly criticized some rules adopted in the European Union and opposed approaches that restrict innovation. McGregor described this situation as a “war against privacy” and pointed out that the time to preserve a free internet is running out.
Additionally, McGregor noted the increasing international pressure on Durov. He said that despite situations such as being detained in France and restrictions on participating in forums about freedom, Durov has not abandoned his principles.
Although the Telegram founder has taken measures to remove harmful content, he has not compromised on the principle of protecting users' privacy. In the most emotional part of his statement, McGregor called Durov a “legend” and described him as “my dear friend and brother.”
He expressed full support for Durov’s activities, firmly stating, “I am 100% with you.” For reference, Pavel Durov was forced to leave Russia in 2014 after refusing to provide information about Ukrainian users to the Russian government.
Since then, he has been developing the Telegram platform based on the principles of personal data protection and privacy.
