Alisher Usmonov won another court victory in Germany
Billionaire Alisher Usmonov has achieved another significant court victory in Germany. This was reported by Zamin.uz.

The Hamburg Land Court satisfied the entrepreneur's claim and found the information disseminated by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) publication to be defamatory. According to the court's decision, the publication must stop spreading unfounded allegations about Usmonov's connections with the Kremlin and the use of his wealth for political purposes.

If this ruling is violated, the publication may be fined up to 250,000 euros or the responsible parties may face administrative liability. The document published by the Hamburg court noted that the FAZ publication spread a number of false information about Usmonov.

Among other things, the claims that the entrepreneur's funds were being used in the interests of the Russian government, that he unofficially represented Russian authority in Uzbekistan, and that he interfered in the work of the "Kommersant" publication were found to be baseless. Another important aspect of this court decision is that, for the first time in European jurisdiction, Alexei Navalny's statements about Usmonov were banned from being disseminated.

Previously, these claims, which were found to be false by Russian courts, have now also been rejected by European courts. According to Alisher Usmonov's lawyer, Joachim Steinhöfel, such unfounded information served as the basis for the European Union to impose sanctions against the entrepreneur.

The Hamburg court's decision shows that these sanctions were unlawfully based. This is not Usmonov's first victory against Western mass media.

Earlier, he also succeeded in refuting false information spread about the Dilbar superyacht. Additionally, investigations opened against the entrepreneur in Germany on charges of money laundering and sanctions violations have also been terminated.

According to Forbes data, Usmonov's wealth amounted to 16.7 billion dollars as of 2025. Currently, Alisher Usmonov continues to fight against the restrictions imposed by the European Union.

Will these court decisions lead to his removal from the sanctions list? Time will tell.
