Russia and the US: February 1 border for negotiations

Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, responding to a question about Russia's deadlines for stopping strikes, stated that he has no additional information to add to previous statements. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He reminded that the discussion specifically concerns the date of February 1. In recent days, the situation around statements between the Kremlin and the USA has become more tense.
US President Donald Trump announced that he had appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to refrain from striking Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities until February 1. Peskov confirmed that such a request was made and emphasized that it was aimed at creating favorable conditions for negotiations.
The main point is that these reports indicate discussions about temporarily halting strikes rather than completely stopping them. Peskov's lack of additional comments suggests that the Kremlin is not yet ready to announce new deadlines or conditions.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the negotiation process is ongoing. Meetings in a tripartite format have been held in Abu Dhabi, and the next stages are being discussed.
Additionally, reports have circulated about Kirill Dmitriev's visit to the USA, particularly Miami. He is expected to hold meetings with the Trump administration, with economic issues anticipated to be a key topic in these discussions.
The current situation indicates that the parties are focusing more on discussing “dates and conditions” rather than making “major statements.” February 1 is not just an ordinary date but a significant deadline set within the negotiation process.
If rhetoric between the parties intensifies after this date, it means the negotiations are becoming complicated. Conversely, if there is a softening, it may signal the emergence of a real agreement framework.
