Entrance to the Trevi Fountain is now paid

Entrance to the famous Trevi Fountain located in Rome, the capital of Italy, is now paid. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to media reports, tourists will have to pay a fee to approach the fountain area and throw coins into it. Official information states that entry to the fountain area will cost two euros daily from 09:00 to 22:00.
However, children under five years old, persons with disabilities, and residents of Rome are exempt from this fee. Additionally, free access to the fountain will remain available in the late evening and early morning hours.
According to calculations by the Rome city administration, ticket sales are expected to generate annual revenue ranging from 6.5 million to 20 million euros. These funds will be allocated for the maintenance, technical servicing, and staff salaries of the fountain.
Furthermore, coins thrown into the fountain will continue to be handed over to the Caritas di Roma charity organization as before. This organization provides assistance to the underprivileged population.
According to data, an average of 1.5 million euros in coins is collected from the Trevi Fountain annually.
