The plane landed on the roof of a moving train

An unprecedented event occurred in the history of aviation: a plane landed on the roof of a moving train. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
Such a complex maneuver had never been performed before. The project is called “Train Landing” and was successfully carried out on February 15, 2026, near the city of Afyonkarahisar in Turkey.
This historic flight was performed by pilot Kosta Zivko in a Edge 540 sport aircraft. This single-seat plane, with 400 horsepower, is designed for high speed and precision.
At the most critical moment, the plane landed on the roof of a moving train carriage with millimeter accuracy. The stunt did not end there: the pilot regained speed and took off again.
The complexity of this maneuver is not limited to landing on the train roof. The plane had to reduce its speed to 87 kilometers per hour to match the train's speed.
This is a very dangerous limit for a sport aircraft, as a slight decrease in speed could cause loss of stability, while an increase could risk overshooting the carriage roof. Additionally, the pilot had to maintain an ideal trajectory amid the turbulence created by the train.
Another challenging aspect of the landing was the limited visibility for the pilot at low altitude. Considering the dynamics of movement and angle of attack, the pilot had to make decisions calmly every second.
The entire process, from approach to landing and takeoff, lasted a brief 50 seconds and covered a distance of 2.5 kilometers. This project was not a one-day idea.
Preparations began in 2024, with the Red Bull team conducting numerous simulations and thoroughly developing calculations. Every detail was carefully studied and exercises were performed to minimize risk.
In the final stage, perfect coordination on the moving train platform and precise control of the aircraft were required. This event is not only a stunt performed for spectacle but also a significant milestone in aviation history.
This is a unique achievement combining flying skill, human reaction, and engineering accomplishments. A new chapter has been opened in the history of aviation.
