Avalanche on Kasl-Pik: 9 skiers died

The body of the ninth missing skier was found following an avalanche on Castle Peak in California. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
A total of 15 people were caught under the snow as a result of the incident. Rescuers managed to save four men and two women alive.
Unfortunately, it was reported that the remaining nine skiers died. According to The New York Times, the avalanche occurred on February 17.
Rescuers found and saved six people after they requested help using the SOS function on their smartphones. The survivors showed rescuers the locations where the bodies of three victims were found.
Later, the bodies of five more skiers were discovered. The body of the ninth victim was found one week after the search operations began.
Search and rescue operations were conducted under difficult and complex conditions. It was reported that all 15 people were members of a group concluding their trip on Castle Peak.
The group included four professional guides as well as a group of friends who frequently visited the area. Before the trip started, they were warned about the expected heavy snowstorm and high avalanche risk in the area.
Nevertheless, the group continued their journey. This incident serves as a reminder of the necessity to strictly adhere to safety measures in the wild.
