Germany is ready to negotiate for peace in Ukraine

At the Cafe Kyiv Ukraine forum held in Berlin, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul announced that Germany is ready to negotiate with Moscow to achieve sustainable peace in Ukraine. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
However, he firmly emphasized that there would be no concessions during this process. The forum was organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation.
According to Wadephul, Ukraine has the right to express its position first. If the shootings stop and conditions for serious negotiations are created, Germany will also be ready to participate in this process.
At the same time, he clearly stated that Germany has no intention of yielding to Moscow. The minister emphasized that Germany does not plead behind Russian President Vladimir Putin's back and stands firm in its position.
In response to calls from the German Social Democratic Party to actively propose negotiations with Putin, Wadephul said that communication channels are sufficient, but if Moscow is not ready for negotiations, no results can be achieved. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz also spoke at the forum.
Recalling the thoughts of 19th-century French writer Astolphe de Custine, he noted that in Russia "the highest civilization" meets "the deepest barbarism." He once again emphasized the strategic importance of providing assistance to Ukraine for Europe.
Merz also spoke about the victims and destruction caused by the war, and the fact that Ukrainians are forced to live in harsh conditions without electricity and heating. In conclusion, the main message from Berlin is this: negotiations can take place, but not at the cost of giving up everything for peace.
According to Germany's position, to achieve peace, first the firing must stop and Moscow's readiness for an agreement must be demonstrated in practice.
