Religious Permission Granted to Male Doctors in Afghanistan

A statement was released announcing that male doctors in Afghanistan have been granted religious permission to examine female patients. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to Afghanistan's Minister of Communications, Hamdullah Nomani, doctors have been given religious rights to view parts of female patients' bodies that are usually prohibited from being exposed, due to medical necessity. The minister emphasized in his speech that in some cases, even looking at a woman's face is restricted.
However, it was specifically noted that such restrictions do not apply during medical treatment. Nomani said: “As a minister, I do not have the right to look at a woman's face.
But you, as doctors, have this right due to medical need. When a female patient is lying on the operating table, all parts of her body may be before your eyes, and you may even be allowed to remove her clothes.” At the same time, the minister called on doctors to use this right only within the scope of medical necessity and professional responsibility.
He stressed that this permission must not be misinterpreted or abused.
