Hormuz Strait: Tensions Rise Between Iran and the USA

The Hormuz Strait, one of the critical points of the global economy, has today turned into a major military testing ground. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The tension between Iran and the USA is putting the oil market in a precarious situation. There is urgent information regarding the latest developments in the region and the fate of maritime routes.
On March 4, Iran announced that it had established full control over the Hormuz Strait. Muhammad Akbarzoda, a representative of the Iranian naval forces, emphasized that any foreign ship attempting to pass through this corridor could become a target for Iranian missiles and drones.
In response to these threats, US President Donald Trump declared that the American naval forces are ready to protect oil tankers. If necessary, US naval vessels will safely escort tankers through the strait.
The International Financial Development Corporation has been tasked with providing insurance and guarantees for commercial ships in the Persian Gulf. According to Admiral Brad Cooper, head of the US Central Command, during the conflict, 17 Iranian vessels, including one submarine, were destroyed.
Currently, there are no remnants of the Iranian naval fleet in the Persian and Oman Gulfs. The US and Israel's actions against Iran's nuclear program, which began on February 28, have led to severe consequences.
In Iran, 787 people have died, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several generals. Tehran has also retaliated — missile attacks were carried out on US bases in Israel and neighboring Arab countries.
Due to the suspension of traffic through the strait, at least 150 oil tankers have gathered in open waters. Considering that 20 percent of the world's oil and 30 percent of liquefied gas pass through here, the situation is very alarming.
If the Hormuz Strait remains closed for an extended period, a shortage of 10 million barrels of oil per day may occur. This could lead to rising fuel prices and a global economic crisis.
