US military forces are extensively using artificial intelligence in operations against Iran

Recently, the US military has been increasingly using artificial intelligence in ongoing air operations involving Iran. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to informed sources, this technology is mainly used to assist in accurately identifying potential targets. The military command system extensively employs Palantir company's AI-based software, particularly the Maven intelligence analysis tool.
This software significantly helps analysts organize the large volume of collected data and also partially uses Anthropic company's Claude systems. However, experts familiar with the workflow emphasize that the Claude AI still does not make direct targeting decisions and only serves as an auxiliary tool.
Due to the expanding role of artificial intelligence in the military field, serious discussions have also begun in the US Congress. House Representative Jill Tokuda proposed conducting independent and mutual inspections to determine the extent to which AI operates in combat operations and the potential risks it poses to human lives.
In her opinion, the human factor should always remain central in critical life-and-death decisions. California Representative Sara Jacobs reminded that AI tools can make subtle errors and warned of the risk of the military relying excessively on these systems.
She demanded the strict implementation of guaranteed human control principles in any lethal action and the strengthening of protective restrictions. The Pentagon has so far announced its decision to abandon fully autonomous weapons, i.e., those operating without human involvement.
However, clear details on how to control and verify AI-based analyses remain undisclosed. The issue is further complicated by disagreements between Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Anthropic company.
As concerns about internal monitoring mechanisms and autonomous lethal systems grow, the future role of artificial intelligence in the military sector and its harmony with human values is becoming a serious topic of discussion.
