YouTube Detects Fake Videos with Artificial Intelligence

YouTube has launched a new system to detect fake videos created with the help of artificial intelligence. Zamin.uz reported on this news.
This initiative is primarily aimed at protecting government officials, well-known journalists, and election candidates from harmful content that mimics their appearance. Announced in March 2026, this initiative serves to protect individuals who are in the public eye from fraud.
The platform has created a special security feature to identify and remove deceptive videos. To use the new system, applicants must submit their original video and an official government certificate.
After registration, the system continuously monitors the platform, and if an artificial video resembling a person's face is found, it immediately sends a notification via YouTube Studio. Participants will have the right to flag suspicious content for review and removal in such cases.
Company representatives confirmed that the submitted data will be stored solely for security purposes and will not be used to train artificial intelligence models. This project was launched as a pilot for YouTube Partner Program members at the end of 2025.
Now it is being implemented on a wide scale. YouTube continues to support creative expression, including parody and satire genres.
However, the company considers combating risks arising from rapidly developing artificial intelligence technologies a priority task. Plans are in place to further increase the number of individuals in the spotlight over the coming year and protect them from digital manipulation.
This measure helps preserve freedom of self-expression and maintain reliable sources of information for the public.
