Sri Lanka is switching to a four-day workweek to save energy

While the conflict in the Middle East is affecting the global economy, the Sri Lankan government is introducing new measures to reduce fuel consumption. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
The country plans to switch to a four-day workweek. According to this decision, every Wednesday will be designated as an official day off for government offices, public sector enterprises, and educational institutions.
Experts believe this step aims to reduce transportation costs and fuel consumption. As the movement of employees and students decreases, a significant reduction in gasoline and diesel fuel consumption is expected.
It is also emphasized that this decision is related to the existing problems in the country's economy, particularly the shortage of energy resources. Recently, the rise in fuel prices in global markets and supply disruptions have forced some countries to take austerity measures.
According to analysts, the experiment introduced by Sri Lanka could serve as an example for other countries. If this system proves effective, many more countries may adopt similar measures in the future.
