US anti-terror chief resigns over Middle East policy

The head of the US National Counterterrorism Center, Joe Kent, announced his resignation. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to him, the basis of this decision is related to military actions in the Middle East, particularly concerning Iran. Joe Kent worked on coordinating counterterrorism efforts during the Donald Trump administration.
His nomination was confirmed by the US Senate, and he began serving as the head of the National Counterterrorism Center in July 2024. However, he addressed the president on social media, stating that he could not conscientiously support a war in Iran.
According to Kent, Iran is not a direct threat to the US. America initiated actions against Iran under pressure from Israel and its influential lobby in the US.
For this reason, he chose to resign, preferring not to support the policy of sacrificing new generations in wars. Additionally, his personal life influenced this decision.
Kent's wife, Shannon Kent, was killed in a suicide attack in Syria in 2019. He also emphasized that information spread by high-ranking Israeli officials and influential American journalists has damaged Trump's "America First" policy.
So far, Donald Trump has not officially commented on this resignation. Joe Kent's actions are gaining significant attention in the US political environment and among the public.
