Attackers who stormed a bank in the city of Naples took people hostage

An unexpected and noisy crime occurred on April 16 in the city of Naples, Italy. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
An armed group stormed a bank branch, taking employees and customers hostage. It became known that the criminals escaped from the scene via underground passages.
According to preliminary information, the intruders took control of the situation as soon as they entered the bank and held a total of 25 people hostage. Police officers, upon receiving news of the incident, arrived promptly and surrounded the building.
To strengthen security measures, the surrounding area and roads were completely closed. After negotiations that lasted approximately two hours, all hostages were released.
Some citizens received emergency medical assistance due to severe agitation and stress; however, no serious injuries were recorded. By the time special services stormed the building, the criminals had already disappeared.
Subsequent investigations revealed that the intruders escaped through a pre-prepared secret route—a tunnel connecting to the sewage system. According to witnesses, the armed group did not cause physical harm to the hostages but locked them in a separate room.
This situation indicates that the crime was meticulously planned. Emergency services broke the bank windows and evacuated the people inside to a safe location.
Thousands of people watched the event via live broadcasts. Currently, the police are conducting extensive search operations along the underground networks.
It is not yet clear how much money or valuables the criminals stole from the bank. This incident has once again highlighted problems regarding the security system and the level of protection for banks in Italy.
