Military constructions on the Belarus border are further complicating the security situation

The security situation in the Eastern European region is becoming increasingly complex, Zamin.uz reports.
Based on intelligence data, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Belarus has begun constructing infrastructure facilities and preparing artillery positions in border areas with Ukraine. The Ukrainian leader emphasized that the primary reason for these actions is Russia's desire to re-engage Belarus in the war process.
According to a statement on Zelenskyy's personal Telegram channel, Moscow aims to regroup its military forces and compensate for troop shortages through this method. The Ukrainian side stated that it has sent a clear warning to the Belarusian government via diplomatic channels.
The head of state reaffirmed Ukraine's full readiness to defend its territories and independence, as well as its capability to respond appropriately to any threat. Additionally, referring to international events, Zelenskyy said that recent occurrences in Venezuela should serve as a lesson for the Belarusian leadership.
In his view, mistakes made in other countries and their consequences should be a warning signal for Minsk. For its part, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko is also speaking openly about plans to increase the country's military potential.
At a meeting in April, he announced that the Armed Forces are preparing for any possible conflict. Lukashenko emphasized that if force is used against the country, they will respond appropriately and have the capacity to increase the army size up to 500,000 personnel if necessary.
The Belarusian side explains these measures by the escalation of the geopolitical situation and threats at the border. Lukashenko had previously stated that a potential attack on Belarus could be the starting point for large-scale global wars.
Currently, the situation in the region remains uncertain. According to experts, mistrust between the parties and increased military activity could lead to a new stage of tension in the region.
