British Parliament Approves Strict Law Banning Tobacco Sales

The UK Parliament has approved one of the strictest bills in the country's history, as reported by Zamin.uz. The House of Commons and the House of Lords have reached a final agreement on the new document aimed at regulating tobacco and vape products.
The bill is now expected to be signed by King Charles III. Following the King's assent, the new regulations will officially come into force, serving to gradually eliminate tobacco consumption in the country.
The primary goal of the new law is to completely free future generations from tobacco addiction. According to the established rules, starting from January 1, 2027, the sale of tobacco products will be banned for life for all citizens born after January 1, 2009.
This means that individuals aged 17 and under at the time the law takes effect will never be legally permitted to purchase cigarettes, cigars, or any type of tobacco product from official stores. The age limit will increase by one year annually, creating a smoke-free environment that covers a large portion of society over time.
At the same time, control over modern electronic cigarettes and vapes will be significantly tightened. The government has gained broad powers to restrict various appealing flavors of nicotine-containing products, their attractive packaging, and advertising.
The promotion of devices that are particularly popular among youth and cause serious health damage will be curtailed. Under the law, vaping will be strictly prohibited around schools, playgrounds, and other public places.
UK Health Secretary Wes Streeting called this initiative a massive step toward preserving the nation's health. According to him, smoking remains the leading cause of preventable deaths in the country.
Data shows that approximately 80,000 Britons die every year from tobacco-related diseases, causing immense economic damage to the state budget and the healthcare system. Through these decisive measures, the British government plans to reduce smoking rates among youth to a minimum and build a completely smoke-free society in the long term.
Once Royal Assent is granted, the law will be implemented in stages and is expected to become one of the world's most effective public health practices.
