Higher Education Institutions Found Unprepared for the Artificial Intelligence Revolution

The global education system is currently at a turning point, reports Zamin.uz. Recent studies conducted by the Lumina Foundation and Gallup show that artificial intelligence (AI) technologies have rapidly entered students' lives.

However, the fact that current regulations in higher education institutions are not sufficiently adapted to this technological revolution is causing serious problems. According to analysis, more than half of students regularly use AI services.

For many, these tools have already become a daily necessity, much like search engines or calculators. Students rely on technological assistants to understand complex assignments, check homework, and edit written work.

AI is also becoming invaluable in generating new ideas and working on creative texts. Gender differences are also notable in the study.

It was revealed that male students use these technologies more frequently than females. Demand for AI is particularly high among young people studying in information technology, business, and engineering fields.

However, the biggest obstacle in the system is that many universities are still trying to ban the technology or ignore its potential. Experts believe that a total ban on AI is an ineffective approach.

In developed countries, the vast majority of students are already using these tools for assessment tasks. The main risk is that students might develop a dependency on ready-made tools instead of independent thinking.

This will inevitably have a negative impact on the actual knowledge level of future specialists. In conclusion, universities must abandon outdated methods and adapt to the requirements of the new era.

Instead of banning AI, students should be taught how to use it correctly and ethically. The primary task today is to improve the quality of education by harmonizing technological capabilities with critical thinking.

Only then will the new generation of specialists be able to find their place in the modern world.
