The Number of Countries Banning Smartphones in Schools to Increase Sharply
In recent years, significant changes have been observed in the global education system. In particular, the policy of restricting the use of mobile phones in schools is gaining momentum.

According to available data, the number of countries implementing such measures is expected to nearly double by 2026. This trend is seen as a crucial step toward improving the quality of education.

UNESCO's global education monitoring report notes that today, 58% of education systems worldwide have partially restricted or completely banned the use of smartphones. For comparison, this figure stood at only 24% in 2023.

Such a sharp increase indicates that many nations have revised their educational policies within a short period. Experts attribute this situation to several key factors.

Primarily, the main reason cited is the distraction of students and the loss of focus during lessons. Additionally, various online threats, the problem of cyberbullying, and the negative impact of social media on the psyche of minors are causing serious concern.

It is emphasized that excessive screen time can harm not only students' academic performance but also their physical health. Recently, countries such as Bolivia, Croatia, Malta, and the Maldives have introduced such restrictions on a national scale.

In some countries, the issue has been elevated to a legislative level, with strict regulations being developed to govern smartphone use on school grounds. According to experts, these measures help restore face-to-face communication among students and increase classroom engagement.

At the same time, some specialists oppose a total ban on technology. They believe that instead of completely excluding modern devices from life, it is necessary to improve students' digital literacy and foster a culture of proper technology use.

Nevertheless, restricting smartphones in schools remains one of the primary global trends today. Reforms in this direction are expected to expand further in the future.
