Over 400 children have died in Bangladesh due to drowning

Measles is spreading rapidly in Bangladesh, and the epidemiological situation in the country is taking on an increasingly alarming character. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
According to the latest official data, since mid-March of this year, 459 children have died from this infectious disease. The severity of the situation is such that the number of fatalities is increasing day by day.
For example, on May 18 alone, the deaths of six more children were recorded. While one of these deaths was directly confirmed to be due to measles, the remaining five cases are suspected to be linked to the same illness.
According to a report submitted by the Ministry of Health, 75 of the deaths caused by measles have been fully confirmed through laboratory tests. As for the remaining 384 cases, suspicions remain, and specialists are conducting additional investigations and analyses.
The rate of spread of the disease is not slowing down either. If another 240 people were diagnosed with measles in a single day, the total number of infected individuals has risen to 7,700.
Moreover, the number of people suspected of having the disease increased by 1,274 in one day, bringing the total figure to nearly 58,000. According to official data, it can be said that since mid-spring, more than 42,000 people across Bangladesh have been hospitalized with symptoms of measles.
Most of them have received the necessary medical care, and after their health improved, they were sent home. However, the situation in the capital, Dhaka, remains particularly severe.
In the city, public dissatisfaction is growing due to vaccine shortages and disruptions in supply. Citizens are demanding that shortcomings in the healthcare system be addressed and that conditions be created for treating their children.
Healthcare specialists emphasize the urgent need to expand public treatment measures in order to break the chain of this dangerous illness. At the same time, it is important to conduct widespread educational efforts among the population on observing sanitation and hygiene rules, and seeking medical help at the first signs of illness.
Currently, the government is taking steps to reduce the scale of the epidemic and replenish vaccine stocks.
