Australian police find 2.7 tons of cocaine in the Londonderry area

The Australian Federal Police have seized one of the largest cocaine shipments in the country's history in the Londonderry area near Sydney. Zamin.uz reported this.
Investigators stated that the narcotics were hidden beneath the false floors of three shipping containers. A total of 2.7 tons of cocaine, packed in plastic containers, was discovered.
According to official estimates, the black market value of the seized drugs is approximately 816 million US dollars. Experts noted that this amount could be equivalent to nearly 3 million individual doses.
During the operation, two men aged 21 and 25 were detained. They have been charged with the illegal importation and possession of a commercial quantity of border-controlled drugs into Australia.
The investigation is currently ongoing. According to investigative data, the cocaine was initially brought into the country through Northern Queensland and then transported to Sydney.
Operational measures within the framework of a special operation played a crucial role in detecting the substances hidden among the cargo. This case is being investigated as part of the special inquiry "Operation Minjiang."
To date, more than 3 tons of various narcotics have been seized in connection with this case. Australian law enforcement agencies stated that they are strengthening international cooperation to prevent such shipments from entering the country.
