In China, students' confiscated phones are crushed with a steamroller

At one of the private educational institutions in Tashkent, an unusual and harsh measure was taken regarding students' discipline during lessons, Zamin.uz reported.
The school administration smashed dozens of smartphones confiscated from students at various times with a hammer in front of everyone's eyes. This action was reportedly organized to demonstrate in practice what consequences the use of mobile devices during class time can lead to.
The destroyed communication devices had previously been taken from students who violated the school's internal rules and disrupted the educational process. According to information, these devices had been stored in the school's warehouse for several years, but there were no plans to return them to their owners.
The process of rendering the phones unusable with a hammer was carried out directly with the participation of students. The school administration intended to show its strict and uncompromising attitude toward the use of smartphones during class time in this way.
After videos depicting the incident spread on social networks, it sparked heated discussions among the public. Some users praised this measure as an effective way to maintain strict discipline in school and direct students' attention solely to learning.
In their opinion, modern technologies negatively affect the quality of lessons, and such harsh measures should serve as an example for other students. However, the majority of observers criticized the school administration's action as excessive.
Critics consider the intentional destruction of students' personal property to be excessive punishment and unlawful. They believe that shaping discipline in children should be achieved through explanation and educational methods, not by destroying items.
At present, debates continue regarding this situation from various legal and ethical perspectives.
