Russia attacked Ukraine with missiles and drones

Russian forces launched another large-scale attack on Ukrainian territory overnight on August 8, using missiles and strike drones, according to Zamin.uz.
The aerial assault resulted in powerful explosions, fires, and significant infrastructure damage in Kyiv and Kharkiv. Local authorities reported that civilians were among those injured in the attacks.
According to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, at least two people were injured in the attack on the capital, one of whom was urgently hospitalized. In the Desnyanskyi district, a missile strike caused a fire in large warehouses, while in the Sviatoshynskyi district, a dormitory building was left without a roof.
As a result of the incidents, air raid alerts were activated across the city, and the threat level was declared high. Timur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said that enemy attack drones continued to operate in the vicinity of the capital and surrounding areas.
He emphasized that the aerial threat to the city’s population remains. At the same time, the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that Russia launched several ballistic missiles toward Kyiv from northern directions.
Kharkiv also suffered serious consequences from the nighttime attack. According to Mayor Igor Terekhov, the strikes damaged more than twenty private homes, places of worship, street lighting systems, and five light vehicles.
Preliminary reports indicate that two civilians in the city sustained injuries of varying severity. In particular, a missile strike in the Nemyshlianskyi district caused significant damage to infrastructure.
According to Ukrainian military officials, Russia’s nighttime attacks on Kyiv, Kharkiv, and the country’s central and eastern regions lasted several hours. Rescue operations are currently underway in all affected areas.
Experts are urging the public to remain vigilant and strictly follow air raid warnings. It is recommended not to relax safety measures until the situation is fully under control.
