Trump: Peace in Ukraine will be established 'soon' or 'never'

US President Donald Trump stated that a ceasefire in Ukraine will be established “soon” or “never.” This was reported by Deutsche Welle.

Trump noted that “great achievements” have already been made in negotiations. When asked if he trusts Russian President Vladimir Putin, he replied, “Trust, but verify.” At the same time, the US president emphasized that he does not think “Putin will break it and invade Ukraine again” if a peace treaty is established.

Additionally, Trump was asked if he is not worried that the deployment of European peacekeeping forces to Ukraine would trigger Article 5 of the NATO treaty. According to this article, all member states of the alliance are obliged to assist a member that has been attacked.

"I don't think we will have a reason for that," the US president emphasized.

He noted his support for the NATO mission outlined in this article. Trump declined to discuss the details of a potential peacekeeping mission in Ukraine, emphasizing that he wants to achieve a peace agreement between Moscow and Kyiv first.

Keir Starmer: The UK is ready to send troops to Ukraine

The British Prime Minister confirmed on February 27 during a joint press conference with the US president that the UK is prepared to deploy ground troops and aviation in Ukraine alongside allies. He called this “the only way to ensure lasting peace.”

According to Keir Starmer, he discussed with Trump a “tough but fair agreement” in which Ukraine plays a decisive role and is supported by military force.

This agreement is aimed at ensuring that Putin does not seek more, DPA agency reports.

There should be no peace that rewards the aggressor. History must be on the side of the peacemakers, Starmer emphasized.

Otherwise, in his opinion, there is a risk of new regimes emerging that resemble the “Iranian regime.” Starmer stated that representatives from 18 European countries plan to meet to discuss a peace treaty for Ukraine.
