He was 114 years old. Singh, known as the "tornado in a turban," gained worldwide recognition through his marathon runs and became a victim of a car accident.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, Singh was hit by an unknown driver while crossing the road in his hometown. The perpetrator fled the scene, and law enforcement is currently searching for him.
Although the victim was taken to the hospital, doctors were unable to save his life. Fauja Singh was born on April 1, 1911.
Despite struggling with walking in his childhood, he made sports an integral part of his life in his youth. He seriously began marathon running in England at the age of 89 and participated in various international competitions, becoming an inspiration for the elderly.
In 2013, at the age of 101, he completed a 10-kilometer distance in one hour, 32 minutes, and 28 seconds. Later, in 2016, he participated in the Mumbai marathon.
In recent years, he took a break from running and observed competitions as a fan. Fauja Singh's life will remain a testament to sports, perseverance, and mental strength.
His memory, which has been an inspiration for thousands of people, will always be cherished in hearts.
