During an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council regarding the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan made an important statement. This was reported by Zamin.uz.
He referred to Israel's actions against the Palestinian people as an ongoing genocide and accused the international community of indifference to this. The minister emphasized in his speech that Israel does not seek peace and is not interested in ensuring stability in the region.
Hakan Fidan stated that over two million people in the Gaza Strip are living in dire conditions. They are suffering greatly due to mass displacement, hunger, lack of water, and constant airstrikes.
Israel deliberately obstructs humanitarian aid every day, causing harm to civilians only at food and water distribution points operated by humanitarian organizations. Children are dying while trying to get water, and mothers are perishing while searching for food for their children.
The minister highlighted that hunger is being used as a weapon of war today, and the norms of international humanitarian law are being violated. He stated that the world is witnessing the re-emergence of concentration camps, and Palestine is facing complete extermination.
He also noted that Israel's war machine is being supported by some forces based on hatred and impunity. Hakan Fidan emphasized that avoiding the discussion of genocide is against humanity and that the world community must take decisive measures to stop the tragedies in Gaza.
He stated that this is not only a test for Gaza but for all of humanity. Currently, attention is focused on the UN Security Council, and the practical outcome of these statements will become apparent over time.
