Most of the cars produced in Uzbekistan meet Euro-2 emission standards, but the buyer has to pay extra to equip the car with a catalytic converter.
According to the vehicle type approval certificate, even the modern Chevrolet Tracker crossover has a Euro-2 ecological class, meaning it lacks a catalytic converter.
The catalyst is an optional paid variant. All new Chevrolet Cobalt, Lacetti, Nexia, and Spark in Uzbekistan comply with Euro-2 standards.
The publication "Avtostrada," which studied the official documents in the national certification system for vehicles, found that all budget-class cars produced in Uzbekistan have Euro-2 certification. This refers to the Chevrolet Cobalt, Chevrolet Lacetti, Chevrolet Nexia, and Chevrolet Spark models.
Export versions produced by UzAuto Motors meet Euro-5 requirements, but this is considered a paid option for the Uzbek market. The Chevrolet Tracker raised to Euro 5 costs 22,000 rubles more in our currency, the report states.
