For the first time in Uzbekistan, it may be allowed to increase the speed limit to 130 kilometers per hour on certain sections of the road. This was reported by Upl.uz.
This proposal pertains to a section of the M-39 international highway in the Sherobod district of Surkhandarya region. This initiative is being considered within the framework of the tasks assigned by the President to improve road infrastructure and enhance road safety.
The working group conducted a technical inspection of the road sections connecting the cities of Termez and Baysun. The initial inspection revealed that it is possible to increase the speed limit on a section that is 26 kilometers long.
However, a number of shortcomings need to be addressed: updating the road markings, replacing damaged road signs, installing protective barriers at dangerous spots, and repairing wave deformations on bridges. Additionally, the traffic regulations on other sections of the road in Surkhandarya region will be reviewed.
The final decision on increasing the speed limit will be made after all repair works are completed and a re-inspection is conducted. These measures are aimed at ensuring road safety.
